Q & A

Q & A

Why did you choose your profession?

2 reasons:

  1. I love building teams and dreams. Creating a vision and assembling the right people, strategizing on the mission, developing the processes and budget, and going to work to make it all happen.

  2. I believe that if each of us works at being our best, the business will have a team of people whose vision and mission is to “be the best” …individual and company. It is not just their job, but their future.

Who is the one person who has done the most to shape you into who you are today? How was the person significant to you?

Bill Sherman, CEO of WMS Enterprises. Bill became my Mentor from the time I joined their team of 5 and continued even after my departure 7 years later. He gave me insight into the spirit of entrepreneurship.  It was from him I learned how to build a company; including creating a vision, strategic plan, structure, and standard operating procedures.

In addition, he trusted me to travel to Taiwan and Hong Kong, to build relationships with our many and varied vendors. I was able to participate in negotiating pricing, terms of payment, and guarantees.

What has been the greatest accomplishment of your life so far? Is there anything you wish to do even better?

Personally… it is our son Brian. I am so proud of him as a man, a professional and a son. I am pleased with my relationship with Brian and his bright future. We talk often about his future goals, networking, business in general, and his plan to get where he wants to be professionally.

Professionally… it was NOT the thrill of building a $100,000,000 company or winning Vendor of the Year and of the Decade, but watching 17 members of my team, that started out at $30,000/year with no resume, higher education or experience, join the Dial Soap Team at salaries over 6 figures. All due to their company experiences and growth.

I would like the opportunity to support a company in transition and facilitate its growth and sustainability…NOW using my lessons learned, network, and growth management experience, to help them avoid potential potholes and roadblocks.

How would your peers and team members describe your responsiveness as a leader?

I am the go-to person in most situations. My team understands that I have expectations of them and that through communication and collaboration, we can get through anything together. They appreciate the fact that I acknowledge their place on the team and that I allow them to make decisions and learn from their mistakes and successes.

"Bob is one of the best, most productive, results-oriented consultants I have ever hired. He managed to accomplish the impossible - putting together a complex supply chain and helping me launch a new retail branded product within 6 months...when everyone else was telling me it would take a year.  I've hired Bob since then and continue to look for opportunities to work with Bob."

"It has been a pleasure to work with Bob and the Symphony team. Bob knows what he wants but is flexible in how we get there. This allowed XOLogic and Symphony to have clear goals and quickly and efficiently achieve them. Bob was instrumental in setting up their e-commerce and point of sale. These both had seamless integration between XOLogic and their EPR system."
